COVID-19 has hit all areas where we work. PNF is taking on this challenge the best way we know how: by putting women and children at the center of everything we do and an unyielding dedication to building resilient health systems and communities.
In India, the poor are always an afterthought. It seems strange, given that it is a country where millions of people live in extreme poverty, but that is how things have always been. Matters became even worse since the lockdown has begun. With no money and no documents to help them access relief measures related to food, health, water, sanitation, shelter and livelihood, the homeless in India have become the most vulnerable to the immediate impact and aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.
PNF’s targeted response will try its best to help all communities not only survive this crisis but come through it stronger and more resilient.
By way of this campaign, with the help of Navodaya Alumni Associations and Volunteers spread across India,
we will identify the needy, deserving children and help them by gifting a phone so that they are enabled
to learn through online classrooms too and not remain deprived of their right to education even in the lockdown.
We identify donors that would like to come forward and sponsor a phone for a child.
Our volunteers find and verify deserving students that need a phone to study.
We accept the donation from the donors and procure phone(s) for the children.
We help provide the child contact details to the donor so that they can get in touch directly and thank them.
